What you bring & what we run
This page describes the clusters I run for you. paasbox itself is an open-source CLI that gives you your own Gardener landscape, in which case you run everything in the left column yourself; see your own Gardener.
For the clusters run for you, the line is this: the control plane runs on my landscape, the infrastructure is yours. You never run a control plane; we never resell you compute.

How the cost splits
Section titled “How the cost splits”This is where the savings come from:
- Your worker nodes, load balancers and volumes live in your Hetzner Cloud project, and Hetzner bills you for them directly, at your rate, which for adopted pre-increase servers is the grandfathered one.
- Your control plane runs as pods on the seed, and that cost is covered by the flat per-cluster fee: €49 / $65 for a test cluster or €99 / $129 for a production cluster with a highly available control plane.
So you pay Hetzner for the machines you would be paying for anyway, and you pay paasbox one flat price to make them a Kubernetes cluster with an operated control plane, without the extra nodes, load balancers and operations a self-run control plane would add.
What stays yours
Section titled “What stays yours”- Full cluster-admin. The kubeconfig we issue is a real admin credential for your cluster.
- Your workloads. Deploying and managing apps, namespaces, secrets and in-cluster RBAC happens on the cluster, with your own tools. The console handles cluster lifecycle, fleet and billing. It is not an in-cluster management UI.
- Your servers and your data. You own the Hetzner project and every machine in it. paasbox operates them as cluster nodes; it never resells or takes them over.
